Alex F. was in Spoiled Milk in El Paso, TX in the early 90s and played a number of punk shows in the scene there. The Leftovers, Dohnkihedt, Strange Mary, there were a number of bands that came out of the El Paso punk scene to include Jerk where members later went on to form At The Drive In. Members of Spoiled Milk were Alex Ferguson (Bass), Justin Leeah (Drums), Brad Applewhite (Guitar) and DeWayne Stone (Vocals). Later we added Wally Lozano (Guitar) on some of the recordings. That said, El Paso is a city that’s small. One year for Christmas, Lisa and Alex F. went over to Jennifer H.’s house and met up with Jim Ward (At The Drive In, Sparta). We talked touring, working hard as hell on the road and what the bands had to do to make it. Dave Reith (Kramer’s Rule) was a big fan, so we snapped this photo for Dave.

Circle the wagon years later and what do we have. Sparta is on tour in San Diego, CA at The Northpark Observatory and Olivia F. goes to the show. Of course Sparta is one of those bands that doesn’t dissapoint. Olivia gets an updated photo. Kind of cool when your kids get to meet some of the folks from your past. Love it when things come full circle.
